Blathering Gathering

Puzzle Notes

Dear Subscribers,

Bah, humbug!

Maybe it’s Pandemic Overload or Spring Fever, but sometimes one must vent about things that are simply ridiculous.

Like ... dozens of robocalls that threaten immediate repo-ing of your car and significant fines if you don’t “Press 1” immediately. Since I don’t own a car, I think it’s safe to ignore the warning.

Or ... the “Microsoft” technician who clogs up the voicemail queue with: "Warning! Your laptop is emitting infected messages into the Earth’s atmosphere!" For the low-low price of $79.99, he’ll benevolently peek into the laptop and remove the malware. I won’t repeat what he said to me when I finally picked up the phone and in my softest voice suggested that this was a scam. Let’s just say that we didn’t part on a “Have a nice day!” basis.

I've stopped answering the phone or even looking at Caller ID. If anyone needs to contact me, there's email.

Dealing with daily nonsense and claptrap can get to you. Hooey, mumbo jumbo, hogwash, blarney, drivel and gibberish. You see where this is going!

Welcome to Week 518 of Crossword Nation. We invite you to solve “Blathering Gathering” as your puzzle of the week.

Wishing you a nonsense-free week of peace and relaxation! Until next time, I remain ...

Cruciverbally yours,

Liz
