Ascending Order Fun
Difficulty ● ● ◐ ○ ○
Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen,
The Olympics arrived just in time. For two weeks during this hot and humid summer, I feel zero guilt about staying indoors and watching the Olympic coverage on TV. During these Summer Games in Tokyo, I’m a 5-Down with no shame.
Full disclosure about my emotional state: I wept when, during the Opening Ceremony, drones formed a floating replica of the Earth in the night sky above the Olympic stadium. Then Naomi Osaka lit the Olympic cauldron. More tears. It was stunning.
I’m floored by the dizzying floor exercises in gymnastics, bowled over by the skyballs (super-high arcing volleyball serves) and delightfully freaked out by skateboarders riding the rails, ramps and ledges of the street course.
All this upward movement (the vaults, spins and jumps) has impacted this week’s crossword. If you finish the puzzle and are scratching your head as to the theme, have no fears. (Hint: Check out the title!)
Welcome to Week 530 of Crossword Nation. We cordially invite you to solve “Ascending Order Fun” as your non-Olympic event of the week. Stay cool and hydrated, Dear Ones.
Until next time, I remain . . .
