Puzzle Notes

Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen,

“Animals are such agreeable friends—they ask no questions; they pass no criticisms.”
~ George Eliot

I’ve always loved animals and over the years we’ve had dogs and cats – each one of them occupying a special place in my heart.

Quincy, the ginger rescue we adopted from a shelter in Washington Heights, is our current furry family member. His "shelter" name, Quincy, suits him to a tee: he walks around the house with a bookish air. He likes to hang out with the dictionary. I imagine that, at some point, he probably wore glasses and mortarboard. When he’s not sleeping (the usual 17 hours a day), he is conducting research and finding new hiding places in the bookshelves.

Quincy is fully clawed, and so I’ve abandoned all hope of having decent-looking furniture. But I love him and he’s brought great joy to this household. Today’s puzzle is dedicated to our pets and animals in all corners of the planet. May they thrive!

Welcome to Week 531 of Crossword Nation. We beseech you to solve Animal Planet “Groups” as your diversion of the week. Wishing you all good things in August!

Until next time, I remain . . .

Cruciverbally yours,

Liz
