Biosphere!

Puzzle Notes

Greetings Friends,

Sometimes I read a biography of some tempestuous artist and find myself longing for fireworks! booze! bloody fights!; I do think that life must be so much more thrilling when you're actively miserable ~Lauren Groff

As a huge fan of Lauren Groff’s work (especially Matrix, the historical fiction saga of 12th century nuns and Marie de France), I am intrigued by her take on biographies. I suspect that biographers choose subjects whose lives are complicated, remarkable, miserable, exceptional – all the things that make for good reading. This may explain the absence of books about the lives of crossword constructors.

Today’s puzzle riffs on imagined depictions of famous lives. Welcome to Week 555 of Crossword Nation. For your immediate consideration, we invite you to solve “Biosphere!” as your latest diversion.

Wishing you all good things during these January days. Thank you for subscribing and for re-upping your subscriptions. I really appreciate you!

Until next time, I remain . . .

Cruciverbally yours,

Liz
