Renaissance Man
Puzzle Notes
Greetings Friends,
On this final night of January, when the winter days seem decidedly longer, the blue-and-pink sunsets a bit more golden, and a new month rises before us, it seems like an appropriate time for a … celebration.
Truth be told -- the timing was pre-arranged by the Crossword Fates, as our honoree was born February 1, 1901 (or 1902, per some sources). I’ve long admired this person’s work and when the stars lined up in this Year of 2022, with a birthday that falls on a Tuesday (our pub day of the week), the deed was done.
Structurally, the grid has 72 answers. Fewer words than a typical themed puzzle because … the subject is a poet? I’d like to believe that, but I’d not noticed the low-ish word count until after finishing the puzzle. Those Crossword Fates!
Welcome to Week 557 of Crossword Nation. We invite you to solve “Renaissance Man” as your celebratory diversion of the week.
We send you warm wishes for a mirthful week ahead.
Cruciverbally yours,
Liz
