Summer, which arrived last week, seems to have crept up on me -- without much warning, but very welcome. After a long, harsh winter one dreams of t-shirt-and-sandal weather, outdoor tennis, picnic lunches and the item in 37-Across. Though we have a lot to think about in our daily lives, let's remember to engage in a few minutes of self-care each day.
To that end, I've started listening to the Beethoven symphonies again, with score, as a way to unwind in the evenings. For its sampling of nature's sounds, the Sixth Symphony -- The Pastoral -- is among my favorites to this day. Perhaps today's puzzle -- which suggests a bit of frolicking -- was inspired by Beethoven's work. In any event, Beethoven is unfailingly mood-altering and life-affirming. Does music do that for you?
