Crumble Tumble

Puzzle Notes

Greetings Subscribers,

My favorite dessert on earth is Apple Crumble. At this beautiful time of year, apples are the kings and queens of the farmers market: Jonagold, Macoun, Winesap, Acey Mac, Braeburn, Ginger Gold, Idared, Honeycrisp, RubyFrost and the galactic-sounding Zestar! It's tempting to experiment with re-interpretations of the recipe. But year after year, I keep returning to my tried-and-true Granny Smiths, whose tangy crispness offset the richness of the buttery "crumble." I love the foolproof-ness of the dish -- it's forgiving and will withstand a few extra minutes in the oven, or a heavy hand with the spices. Bubbly, spicy, fruity and slightly rich -- Apple Crumble makes one's tummy smile.

Today's puzzle was inspired by the season, crumbles and a bit of combined wordplay.

Welcome to Week 594 of Crossword Nation. We invite you to solve "Crumble Tumble" as your diversion of the week.

Thank you for visiting and for supporting our little puzzle shop! Until next time, I remain . . .

Cruciverbally yours,

Liz
