Hi, Sugar!

Puzzle Notes

Greetings Subscribers,

In a small Connecticut bakery/cafe we spotted this framed inscription:

"Bakers trade bread recipes on a knead-to-know basis"

I am an ardent admirer of unexpected punning, especially while sipping coffee and enjoying a just-baked brioche. Consequently, today's puzzle is flavored with a sweet theme whose entries riff on an NFL coach, an actor (who dazzles in a current summer blockbuster), literature, '70s music and a jackpot. All will become clear as the puzzle unfolds.

Welcome to Week 636 of Crossword Nation. We invite you to partake in "Hi, Sugar!" -- your featured crossword of the week. Stay sweet, my friends!

If you enjoy our puzzle, please give it a good rating on Amy Reynaldo's blog, "Diary of a Crossword Fiend" (see below for details). We appreciate your positive ratings which help keep our woman-owned business strong and independent. Thank you!

Until next time, I remain . . .

Cruciverbally yours and with respect,

Liz
