Puzzle Notes

"Summer ends, and Autumn comes, and he who would have it otherwise would have high tide always and a full moon every night" ~Hal Borland

Dear Friends,

This is a week of transitions. There's a hint of fall in the air, a new crop of freshmen has arrived at the university, the U.S. Open has begun, and Labor Day Weekend is just around the corner. It's a lovely time of year because we'll enjoy plenty of warm days ahead before fall arrives. The farmers market is brimming with the juiciest produce of the year. Bring on the tomato sandwiches!

This week's puzzle theme is simple, yet our testers report that the themed answers are a tad more challenging than usual. We've cooked up an extra-chewy crossword to munch on as we approach a long holiday weekend. Enjoy!

Welcome to Week 639 of Crossword Nation. We cordially invite you to solve "Here, Mon Ami!" as your challenge of the week. Have a great holiday weekend!

If you enjoy this puzzle, please give it a good rating on Amy Reynaldo's blog, "Diary of a Crossword Fiend" (see below for details). We appreciate your positive ratings which help keep our woman-owned business strong and independent. Thank you!

Until next time, I remain . . .

Cruciverbally yours and with respect,

Liz
