Newspaper Clippings

Puzzle Notes

Dear Friends,

It's January 1 and -- depending on the time zone -- we still have four hours of revelry left in the tank. It seems that the holiday season starts with Halloween and ends on January 2. Over the holidays I had a chance to catch up on reading. (Books provide wonderful thematic angles for crosswords.) Among the books I read in 2023, my favorites were: When We Cease to Understand the World (Benjamin Labatut), A Thousand Splendid Suns (Khaled Hosseini), Matrix (Lauren Groff), Trust (Hernan Diaz), Lincoln in the Bardo (George Saunders) and Katharine Graham's memoir, Personal History, which rather directly or indirectly inspired the theme for today's puzzle.

Welcome to Week 657 of Crossword Nation. We cordially invite you to solve "Newspaper Clippings" as your diversion of the week.

Thank you for subscribing to our little shop of puzzles. If you enjoy this crossword, please give it a good rating on Amy Reynaldo's site. These ratings help us stay strong and independent!

Cheers to new beginnings, cherished memories and the strength to conquer tomorrow's challenges. 2024 awaits!

Cruciverbally yours and with respect,

Liz
