“Books are a uniquely portable magic” ~Stephen King

Dear Subscribers,

It's no secret that crossword aficionados are often avid readers. We see such cross-pollination at crossword tournaments, many of which take place in libraries and book stores. I love books for their escapist powers. It's an escapism that's entirely proprietary and personal. Though I'm not a member of a book club, I depend on recommendations from Crossword Nation subscribers and fellow crossword fans. When it concerns books and reading, let's just say that we're on the same page!

Today's puzzle was inspired by a remarkable book recommendation from a subscriber. This novel was also selected by the world's largest book club.

Welcome to Week 644 of Crossword Nation. We invite you to solve "Literary Direction" as your featured diversion.

Thank you for subscribing to our little shop of puzzles. If you enjoy this crossword, please give it a good rating on Amy Reynaldo's site. Your positive vibes help us stay strong and independent!

Cruciverbally yours and with respect,

Liz

But first ....

  1. Please check the Spam folder. Sometimes the Crossword Nation emails are redirected to Spam folders. This can happen after a software or system update. If it's not in the Spam folder, then try Step 2.
  2. Visit the Subscriber Portal and Re-send the Puzzle To Your Mailbox. You can always send the latest puzzle (or any puzzle from our archive) to yourself. Visit here:

Choose the "Resend Puzzle" link at the bottom right of the page. From there, you can choose which puzzle to send to your mailbox!
