Bridge of Sighs
Puzzle Notes
"Mistakes are the usual bridge between inexperience and wisdom" ~Phyllis Theroux
Dear Friends,
I made a lot of mistakes recently. Mistakes in judgment: believing when I should have been skeptical. Skeptical when I should have had faith. It's a constant balancing act, from which one hopes to learn and do better next time.
But there's one type of mistake I don't mind making -- the crossword mistake. When I get something wrong in a crossword, it's okay. I just correct it and grudgingly congratulate the puzzle writer for the sneaky misdirection. If I'm solving on paper and the completed puzzle has blobby crossouts that look like a Rorschach Test -- I salute the puzzle writer with an ink-stained hand. Good game!
Today's crossword may contain a few misdirections, but I'm hoping it will bring to mind the fascinating Venice landmark that inspired it.
