Greetings Crossword Nation Friends,

Happy July! I'm taking the rest of the afternoon off, as it's my birthday. I'll go downtown and meet friends for drinks and supper. Understated and low-key -- the way I like to celebrate birthdays! It feels great to be 39 again. 

As for today's puzzle, I'll borrow an intro from the wrestling world, about which I know a smidge since my mom was a diehard fan of WrestleMania. In my mother's living room, one would see a portrait of John Paul II next to an autographed photo of Hulk Hogan.

To cruciverbally riff on a wrestling announcer's catchphrase: "Let's get r-r-r-r-r-r-ready to JUMBLE!"
