Puzzle Notes

"If all the cars in the United States were placed end to end, it would probably be Labor Day Weekend" ~Doug Larson

Dear Crossword Nation Friends,

For reasons that will become evident after you crack today's puzzle code, I'd planned to run today's crossword at the end of Labor Day Weekend. Well . . . I missed that opportunity and I'll blame it on sleep deprivation. There is a gut renovation taking place in the apartment above me, and though I'm happy that the living space will restored to its original splendour -- I am sleep-deprived. My circadian rhythms have missed a few thousand beats and I find myself staying up until all hours (trying to make my deadlines) before the hammering, drilling and and pounding starts at 8 a.m. The good news is -- reno will be completed in two months. And, truth be told, this puzzle could run on any day of the year. One soldiers on!

Welcome to Week 696 of Crossword Nation. Please enjoy "Labor of Love" as your latest diversion. Happy Solving!
